THE PROBLEM

The Tampa Bay watershed is home to several phosphate mines. Phosphate mining and the resulting gypsum stacks have seriously impacted water quality, the environment, and public health for years.

TAKE ACTION - WHAT YOU CAN DO

  • Become a member of Tampa Bay Waterkeeper. Your financial support will be used in part for Piney Point litigation against HRK Holdings and Florida Department of Environmental Protection.

  • Sign the petition urging the EPA to step up and protect public health and the environment from phosphogypsum.

  • Contact your elected officials to ask them to ensure that the EPA takes action on the petition to protect human health and the environment.

  • Document algae blooms and fish-kills and share the information with the Fish and Wildlife Commission and TBWK's Patrol Program.
